We started this project by talking about pop art and looking at pictures of Andy Warhol’s prints. We then played a game on the TV where the logo would be removed from well known brands and the kids had to guess what they were. I brought in some rubber stamps that I had previously made with iconic items and brands like Coca-Cola, Campbells’s Soup, and ramen noodles. I had the students pick 4 stamps each and 4 squares of fabric. I then helped them use an ink roller with black acrylic paint to stamp the designs onto the fabric. I then used a machine to sew to squares together in the formation they requested. Then I had them use the leftover fiber fill to turn their prints into mini pillows. Finally they used needles and thread to hand stitch the pillows closed.
