Before class I cut different colors of felt into squares, and 3 different sizes of circles. During class I made stacks of the different shapes and sizes. Then one at a time each student picked one piece from each pile, stacking them in descending order . I challenged them to not have 2 of the same color per stack. I hot glued the stacks together as they were assembled. Finally, as a group we laid them out. Once again, I challenged them to not have any of the colors next to each other. Then I took everything home to be machine sewn together.
