I began this project by making mini looms for each student. To do this I bought a pack of cheap canvases and removed the canvas, so that I was left with small wooden frames. I then put small nails into tops and bottoms of the frames to keep the string in place. Next I wrapped the frames with thread. I cut yarn the yarn to manageable lengths (1-2 feet). I gave each kid a loom and a large handful of yarn. Then I showed them how to weave each piece over and under the thread to create patterns. Once the loom was full, I hot glued a square of felt to the back to keep everything in place and cut the textile from its frame.
